Day 20,

Campsite at mile 256 to Big Bear mile 266
10 miles hiked today

I woke up early and was the first to leave. I decided not to eat oatmeal, just snacks. it was going to be a short day. I was once again moving really slowly. My left hip flexer muscle was really tight, pry from compensating for my right knee. I got lost for the first time...

The Trail crossed this road and there was a trail directly across I thought nothing of it I continued along. I came to a clearing and found a dude rolled up in his sleeping bag. He sat up right away and said he couldn't find the trail. he looked last night in the dark for 30 minutes. I checked my Halfmile app with the maps and GPS and sure as shit I wasn't on the trail. I was .25 miles away from the trail. Dam it I'm so pissed. It totally took the wind from my sails. I was already hobbling along with a very awkward gait. Pain was everywhere. The feet, achilles tendon, hip flexer, and my right knee. All yelling at me at once. I found my way back to the trail and continued. The body started to warm up and working a little better.

I'm only a couple miles away and houses start to come into view. I passed by this really cool house.

Complete with wind generator and water wheel. The last 3 miles have went by much better then the first 5. I had to get off the trail and dig a hole I could hear a few people talking as the past by. I had made it to the hwy where we hitch into Big Bear right at 10:00am Perfect timing the Shuttle to the hostel had just pulled up with a car load of hikers getting back on the trail. The 4 of us loaded our packs on to the roof of this awesome 90's station wagon. I sat in the back seat which faced rearward. I was so happy to get here. The wind at this point was ice cold. perfect sunny day with Ice cold wind. Weird.

Wide eyed and ready for clean cloths, a shower and town food!!!!!

Got to do my BBL, Beer, Burrito and Laundry. Had a nice lunch waiting for my cloths to dry in the coin-op Laundry mat next door.

Checked into the hostel, sharing the room with Happy man, Mark and Indy.

Tonight we are going to the Sizzler! Mark obsessed about the Sizzler so we started calling him Sizzler now haha. He finally has his trail name.

It feels great getting all "town clean". Now we all just hang out drink beers and shoot the shit. It's great, The Hostel is great, the people are great, life is great.

Front door of the blue house.

The common room.

This is our room. We are on the top floor. The pent house.

Here's all my stuff everywhere.

Sizzler time! 8 of us went and there was plenty of stuff for this Vegan to eat like a fat kid. One of the guys works for the largest porn company in the world so that was a pretty interesting conversation haha. He works on the computer end of the biz not the other end of the camera. ;) I was sitting next to another guy that works for the largest oil company in the world, the owner of the Hostel drove us dinner and decided to join us. Turns out he is also vegan so it was cool talking to him about that too. Great time.

Back to the Hostel people are either getting ready for bed cause they are heading back out tomorrow or they are getting hammered drinking whisky and steal reserves cause they too are going back out tomorrow lol. Me, Sitting here enjoying the conversations taking place. I'm not drinking very much at all I feel it would take away from my body trying to heal itself from the last 266 miles of pounding the trail.

Full zero tomorrow, yea!
